The first tip might seem like a shocker to some, especially if you don’t like reading. But don’t skip ahead and give this tip a chance. Why? Reading helps reduce stress. It’s a great tool to take your mind someplace else and immerse yourself in something that’s not work-related. 

You can even enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while reading your choice of book. It’s best if you start setting at least 30 minutes per day to read in a quiet place. This tip mainly works if you’re the type of person satisfied and motivated by literary pieces. Besides, reading is also a way of improving oneself.

So, it doesn’t matter if what you’re reading is a self-help book, fantasy novel, or even a magazine. Instead, it’s vital to pick a reading material that helps you fulfill your self-satisfaction. 

2. Do a Crossword Puzzle

The first tip is reading, now a crossword puzzle? Yes, don’t worry. We’re still on the right track. In achieving a work-life balance, your mind needs to take a break. However, it also requires a boost. So think of crosswords as an exercise activity for your mind. 

It doesn’t even have to be a crossword puzzle. It can also be an actual puzzle if you’re more of a visual type of person. Whatever activity you choose, it’s essential to fit it into your schedule. 

3. Work in a New Location

If you’re working remotely, it’s easier to work in a new location. Pick a quiet place that alleviates your mood and increases your productivity. The essence of this tip is placing yourself in a new environment to change things up. Especially if you think your work motivation is running low. 

It’s a tip that benefits those who work using a laptop the most. For example, you can visit a cafe that has an excellent ambiance for working. Another option is to visit the nearest co-working space in your area. There are establishments where a one-day rent is possible. 

As you change your location, it can help shake off everyday struggles of working remotely, such as: 

  • Getting easily distracted
  • Low motivation
  • Feeling suffocated
  • Isolation
  • Inappropriate work environment

After eliminating the common work distraction, you can finish tasks faster. This approach can help you be more efficient and avoid working overtime. In the end, you never have to miss a dinner date, party, and other personal time. 

4. Workout Often

Working out is not something you should do. But, it’s a must-do if you want to have a healthy body and fresh mind. One of the reasons you feel tired most of the time after work is the lack of exercise. Your body needs to be active to avoid that sluggish feeling which eventually leads to burnout.  

As you move your body, it can function better. Sure your client is a priority, but your well-being 

should have the same level of importance.  

5. Let Go of Perfectionism

Although it sounds overused, there’s no such thing as “perfect.” However, if you strive for perfectionism in your work, there’s a high chance that you’re not feeling any work-life balance. It’s not easy, but gradually tone it down. 

Another downside of perfectionism is spending a lot of time on the tiniest details. The result? You work longer hours, and there goes your plan for the evening.
